Having lived abroad before, nothing about Ho Chi Minh city has come as a shock. The supermarkets are full of familiar items that I used to see in Taiwan, the streets are similar to Thailand and the traffic is far better than that in Egypt. The people here are so friendly, and geniunely so. Living in the suburbs instantly makes you feel like a resident rather than a tourist and there are plenty of little shops, supermarkets and restaurants in District 7 to keep you occupied.
I had a massage in the local spa when I first arrived and I will definitely be going back for another one. It cost only $12 US for an hour long aromatherapy massage and it was great. For £65 they offer a three hour spa treatment with a variety of treatments, including facial, flower bath and massage.
The food in Vietnam is fantastic and cheap. So far I have eaten Vietnamese, Chinese, Thai, Indian, Italian and western food and it has all been tasty and affordable. There is also an online delivery service called Vietnammmm, with a range of restaurants that will deliver meals to your door.
